Confession against the totalitarian.
There is an unrest in my being I cannot silence. An unrest that rises every time I meet the totalitarian spirit - whether it calls itself socialism, communism, technocracy or Islamism.
I feel it immediately. Something in me resists, like a nerve that will not be numbed. Like a splinter in my consciousness that cuts and creates pain.
It is not merely about politics. It is not merely systems or economic models. What I feel is a spirit, a way of thinking, that wants to close the space I live in.
Something that wants to steal Man's adventure and shut the door to the Mystery.
I was born into a world where everything, at bottom, is inexplicable. Where we live in the midst of a cosmos infinitely many times larger than our understanding. Where we must bow, wonder, surrender.
And precisely there, in the surrender, we find the strength, the joy, the love.
And it is exactly here I neither can nor will bow to the totalitarian - because it cannot bear the surrender into that which is greater than itself.
It must explain everything, regulate everything, control everything. It cannot bear that something escapes "the system."
Therefore it transforms -
Relation into rule.
Freedom into control.
Truth into ideology.
Adventure into administration.
Mystery into manual.
Islamism says.
Everything is written, you may add nothing.
Submit.
Communism says.
Everything is matter, nothing is sacred.
Submit.
Socialism says
Everything is collective, the individual must bend - and break if necessary.
Submit.
Technocracy says.
Everything is numbers, everything can be measured, everything can be controlled.
Submit.
But I hear only ONE voice behind all these.
It says -
"Close the door. Close the door to the sacred. Close the door to the inexplicable. Close the door to Man's inner fire."
And there I CANNOT go along.
WILL NOT go along.
Because without the door to the Mystery we are already dead. Without the adventure we wither. Without the freedom to wonder, create, fail, rise - we lose our soul.
And I would rather live in uncertainty than in lies. I would rather fight in the storm than sit safely in a cage. I would rather stand face to face with the Darkness than live in a false neon installation, set up by the system's projectors.
I refuse to live in a world where man is reduced to function. A resource. A target number. I refuse to let my life be written into a spreadsheet, where I am only a piece, a vote, a statistic. I refuse quite basically to bow to a dark spirit that wants to take the place of God.
Because Man is created for more.
And that goes for all of us.
We are created to carry fire in the heart. To step into darkness and find light. To love, create, fall and rise again. To live with our gaze open toward the infinite - knowing we will never understand everything, but that it is precisely here we meet the truth.
And I am not afraid of the Darkness.
I have been there. Felt it creep in with its cold clammy hands around my throat - and understood what it contains and what it did to me.
And it was not so bad.
Because the Darkness is the place where the sword is forged. Where the soul is hardened and finds its strength. Where the fire in the heart burns purest. Where the deepest layer in you is awakened.
The totalitarian spirit promises you light - without this inner journey - the soul's dark night - but it is an artificial light, a light that blinds, and a light without warmth.
And in the glow of this cold light - I choose instead the darkness, where the stars can still be seen. Where the journey is still possible. Where I must wander, fight, fail, rise - and there, in the struggle, discover that I live. And shine.
Because.
I can live in struggle.
I can live in pain.
I can live in uncertainty.
But I cannot live in a world where everything is closed, explained and controlled. Because that is not life - it is death pretending to be order. Or translated - the Totalitarian Spirit pretending to be Divine Order.
That is - Lie.
Therefore I confess to something else.
I confess to freedom. To truth. To love. To adventure and mystery.
I want to enter the journey as the hero who cannot turn back. I take the sword in hand, even when my hands bleed. I carry the fire in my heart, even when the storm rages. I walk into the darkness, because I know that light awaits - and that light is not the system's projector, but truth's sunrise.
And I swear on this day that no power - whether political, technological or religious - shall be allowed to steal it from me.
I will stand.
I will fight.
I will speak.
I will burn.
Because what I represent and defend through all I am, is not merely my own freedom - but man's innermost being. And I believe that in every soul there exists a place where one feels the same as I do - because everyone feels it in the great stories and adventures -
That we cannot be reduced. That we cannot be shut down. That we are - that Man is - created to live in the openness, in the wonder, in the love.
That is where we meet each other.
That is where we meet God.
That is where life begins.
And I will never give that up or live on my knees and renounce it.
So yes.
That is it.
Good Tuesday.

…
And in addition. Someone asked the other day about ideas for prayer - a place one can start. And I think one should start where one is. At home in oneself - turn inwardly toward the highest.
But if you want a suggestion, you can take my "Prayer for Man" - that is, yourself - which lies in direct line with the above text, which freely from memory goes like -
…
You, who are above us, in us, and among us -
the first breath and the last rest,
the hidden spark that carries all life.
I pray for Man.
May we remember that we are more than bodies and thoughts,
more than fear and desire,
that we are living flames of your light.
May we dare to look truth in the eye
and follow it, even when it costs.
May we live with hearts open,
so that love is not merely a word,
but a current through all we are and do.
When we falter under the weight of darkness,
may we find the strength to rise.
When we forget who we are,
may we remember that we are born of the light.
Give us courage to be whole.
Give us wisdom to see clearly.
Give us peace to release what we cannot carry.
May man live truly,
in love, in beauty, in strength, in unity -
so that earth may mirror heaven.
