Evening Instruction, Part 2.
Allow me to be your translator.
In the era's bullshit lingo.
"A metaphor about DIVERSITY"
Or - "Difference without Freedom".
You've spent years making your home into a place that fits you.
Colours you like, furniture you've chosen, art you've collected.
All carefully selected, suited to your taste, and arranged to match exactly what you want to surround yourself with.
But one day a helpful little Municipal Lady shows up and knocks on your front door and says -
"It's actually unfair that you've created something that only suits yourself. It's quite wrong that the identity of your home doesn't reflect everyone else's identity. You need to do something about that, because it doesn't look good at all - in fact completely wrong - in the statistics. A home like that simply can't just look like itself. So you need to get that changed. And preferably rather quickly! Otherwise we'll have to hang a notice down at the Co-op where everyone can see it, saying that you haven't arranged yourself like all the rest of us."
That is what they call DIVERSITY.
Though usually it's about - how you've arranged yourself inside and between your ears - what you think and which opinions you have.
That sort of thing isn't allowed in 2025.
We're supposed to be different on the outside - while completely identical and agreed about everything on the inside.

"But what does 'diversity' actually mean?"
One would think it meant a form of multiplicity, where everyone should be allowed and entitled to be themselves. But it doesn't mean that - because that's what we call FREEDOM.
Diversity means there should be differences in APPEARANCE and IDENTITY - but complete conformity in THINKING and in VALUES.
Not real multiplicity of ideas and perspectives - but superficial variation in external characteristics.
And to achieve that, one must intervene. Adjust. Select and exclude - until it looks completely right and uniform in the Excel spreadsheets.
"But where does it come from? And how on earth did it sneak in? I don't want to be, think and speak like everyone else, Thomas??"
Diversity as a control mechanism has roots in the great ideological struggles of the 20th century.
It grew out of the same currents that first spoke of "class struggle" and later - when class divisions became less visible because everyone got money in their hands, and a red revolution couldn't be started through division over economics - the same forces began to focus on "identity politics" as the new battleground.
In the 1960s and 70s it was the left wing and Marxist thinkers who formulated the idea -
'If you can split people up into groups - and make them into victims and perpetrators - oppressed and oppressors - then you can justify intervention in everything... schools, businesses, art, politics.'
It was clever thinking, if one wanted to transform a society into one's desired image.
In the 1990s businesses and the state unfortunately began to pick up the idea - but now disguised as "inclusion" and "justice".
Not because they believed in it - but because it gave them a new tool. A means to show they were "on the right side" - and simultaneously a way to make employees and citizens uniform without calling it coercion. Though it sort of is. And petty on top of it.
"How is Diversity used as an instrument of power?"
You've certainly experienced it, these last decades when you've stood on "the wrong side" of some debate.
It's become a way to force compliance - and thereby crush resistance.
If you don't bend to the right words, opinions, identities and concepts - then you're branded as "opponent of diversity" - as if you're against human dignity. That is, a really nasty character that decent people can't associate with.
But in reality it's about POWER -
Businesses: No longer hire the best qualified - but those who can fill a diversity quota. You know them, they're all the boring ones. So they can display "progressive values" - and avoid criticism from media and activists - who are roughly the same in 2025.
Art and culture: Support is no longer given to the best or most original art - but to what "represents". So art becomes a PR tool for political legitimacy - not a place for true creativity.
Politics: Lists and quotas are used to show that one "understands the population"... as if.... even though what counts is the party's and the state's power and control - not the citizens' freedom.
"Is the modern concept of 'hate speech' - also woven in here?"
Yes. The concept of "hate speech" is used as both shield and sword in this game. Everything that challenges the Diversity dogma - that is, everything that asks who it actually benefits - gets called hate speech. Because that's not allowed.
Not because the words necessarily hate anyone - but because they expose the lie that covers the power game. And that's how "hate speech" is used to shut down dialogue and criticism - by branding all resistance as "hate" and "evil". Because who wants to be on the side of the evil?
But reality is, for the attentive student (that's you reading along), somewhat different.
Because. You can force people to resemble each other in the statistics.
But you cannot force people to think, create and dream freely.
You can paint over the walls with the rainbow's colours.
But you cannot hide that the room behind is the same - without soul and without substance.
And the same applies to society.
You can buy "diversity" on PowerPoint - but you don't get the real differences with it.
The ones that build strength -
Difference in ideas.
Difference in character.
Difference in depth.
Difference in insight.
Because everyone knows it diminishes - the more people resemble each other in opinion, viewpoint, conviction and outlook - even if they look different on the outside.
REAL MULTIPLICITY - REAL DIVERSITY - requires something completely different.
Freedom to choose.
Freedom to speak.
Freedom to believe.
Freedom to think differently!
Without being pressed into a statistical template.
Because only there, where the individual is allowed to unfold - can true multiplicity flourish.
Everything else is a painted backdrop - soon transparent, soon torn down.
And when the backdrop falls, we're left with the eternal question. The one everyone should ask themselves - and which the collected culture in a society really ought to help the individual with.
To find and be oneself.
But who dares to be themselves, when everyone else shouts "diversity" - but in reality means and demands conformity?
