Everyone believes in something.
The question is just what
- and whether they know it.
We are MADE to believe.
Not as a weakness.
But as a necessity.
Because without belief…
No meaning.
No direction.
No deeper reason to get up in the morning and make an effort.
Our inner belief animates us. Orients us. Gives us purpose.
At our core, we have an ancient need to BELIEVE in something larger than ourselves - something that explains what kind of place the world is, why we are here, and how we ought to live to grasp what we might call 'The Good Life'.
The meaningful life where our desires, striving, longings and efforts work in beautiful union with our reason and our conscience - and create harmony within us and therefore also in our outer life.
When it disappears - when belief withers - so do we.
…and modern man in the Western world especially - is withering right now.
More confused, lonely and rootless than ever before.
It no longer believes consciously.
Many don't believe they believe in anything…
It has just changed who it believes in.
Now it believes in the Man on Television.
In the Woman in the Party.
In the Person in the Advertisements.
Or the Ideologue with a mission that requires your submission and your wallet to drive their activism.
And all of this happens because most people have let go of taking conscious stance on their belief.
Because belief is not just something you have or don't have.
It's a lens. A choice. An orientation. A fundamental answer to the question -
What is true?
What leads to life and order - and what leads to decay and chaos?
If you'll allow me to make a suggestion, set aside a few minutes each day to think a bit about this between doomscrolling and Netflix.
Because the need for belief only becomes visible to most people when it gets tested.
Many men discover it in the ruins of a marriage they thought was lifelong.
When she leaves - and he stands alone.
With a shattered self-concept.
Because he didn't just believe in love - he believed his worth lay in being needed.
And without that, he falls apart.
Many women experience it when motherhood, which they believed would fill them with lasting meaning, suddenly leaves them empty.
When the children no longer need her.
When relationships drift away.
When she discovers that she gave everything - but never anchored her identity in something deeper.
And that's what happens when you've built your entire belief on something temporary.
Something that can be taken from you.
A person. A role. A feeling. A mood.
When it's peeled away, the question returns every evening when head hits pillow and it's quiet enough that most can hear their inner dialogue…
What do you believe in then?
What remains when everything else falls?
When I write about belief - or about Christianity -
it's not about dragging people into church.
Not about turning the clock back 100 years.
Not about forced religion or blind dogma.
THE OPPOSITE!
It's about rediscovering what we once knew with our whole body:
That we are not free, strong and whole -
if we don't take responsibility for our belief ourselves.
If we don't choose our FOUNDATION with care.
And build life on top of it.
I write about Christianity because it is the strongest belief mankind has ever built a society upon.
A belief that isn't just about the hereafter - but about how you live here and now.
How you become whole.
How you love.
How you build.
How you take responsibility.
How you create ORDER in the midst of chaos.
What modern self-help and therapy over the last five decades have tried to find in a thousand books and a thousand podcasts - already existed.
In a message by which millions before us have risen.
A message that raised Europe from dust to beauty, from tribes to civilisation, from survival to culture.
A shared story, a shared language, a shared understanding of what is sacred.
Which virtues, values, ideals and aims stand above all else!
It was this force - belief - that united us.
Across languages, borders and political disagreement.
And which again and again raised us up when darkness threatened.
What beat back those who wanted to overtake Europe. Repeatedly!
Without belief, we are alone.
Confused.
Receptive to anything - and anyone.
And that's precisely where many are today.
No - I don't write to convert anyone. Everyone must work out their own recognition.
I WRITE TO SHAKE YOU!
Because you already believe in something.
The question is just whether what you believe in…
is strong enough to carry you,
when everything else collapses.
Whether it can keep you upright in the storm.
Whether it can hold together your house, your family, your mind -
when the world shakes.
If not - then build again!
Build stronger.
Build on the strongest foundation that has carried people through a thousand years of war, love, hope and darkness.
Because belief is not optional decoration.
Belief is your compass.
And without a compass,
you ALWAYS end up somewhere,
someone else chose for you.

…
And as a sidenote.
You don't believe our ancestors wove the cross into the Dannebrog for fun… do you? 🇩🇰
Surely the blue-haired media and relativising cultural Marxist university fools haven't driven you that far off course yet… 🤓😘
Good weekend, friends ❤️
