177 years ago today, a king put his signature on a paper that took power from himself and his lineage and placed it with us. 🇩🇰
The unusual thing was that he gave it away freely.
The Constitution did not invent Freedom, it wrote it down so that no one later could call it a gift and thereby imply that it could be taken back.
From that day, the Dane was no longer a subject under a will, but a citizen under a law, not free by Power's grace, but free by right.
That is the day we celebrate.
Not the flag and not the song, but the day Power was bound and Man set free from it.
Because what was written down in 1849 was not new.
It was a late echo of a promise that sounded nearly two thousand years before.
When a man said that the Truth would set us free, and thereby placed Man somewhere no king, no state and no power could ever reach it.
