Love Is Not What We Feel - It Is What We Enter

I have had a few experiences over the past month, most recently this weekend, that have brought me to a question I have long tried to understand, and whose mystery I will probably never finish exploring -

What is the nature of Love at the deepest level?

It is not a question you answer quickly, or toss into the air over a cup of coffee. So I have been scratching my beard a bit, while seeking both inward and upward, taking notes and scribbling and scraping to capture it.

Here is where I stand right now.

You are welcome to share your own reflections below - I would love to hear them.

Wishing you a very good first week of December 🎄🎁❤️

...

Love is not something we feel, but something we enter. It is the light in which everything becomes visible, and the place where nothing untrue can survive.

Love is Truth's Own Being, taking residence in man - not as an idea, but as a life principle, a quiet transformation.

Love is a purifying fire - a fire that cleanses without consuming, that makes all the false fall away and lets your true being emerge.

When Love fills a Human Being, everything inauthentic, everything irrelevant, everything superfluous falls to the ground like dust. What remains is what God intended for you from the beginning.

Love is therefore not the soft yielding that bends for everything, merely to avoid discomfort. It does not seek peace at the expense of reality.

Love is not emotional self-deception, not the sentimental comfort that lets lies live to preserve domestic peace. It is too true for that.

Love is not the modern misunderstanding where everything must be 'nice', 'simple' or 'non-committal'. It is far more serious than that.

Love is not a band-aid. It is an inexorable light that penetrates everywhere. And it spares no illusions.

Love is not the narcissistic fantasy of being validated in everything you feel. And certainly not your little identity. It validates ONLY what is true.

No.

Love is the courage to become transparent to and illuminated by Truth.

For those of you who are curious about Christianity - or seeking its deeper meaning - the centre of the cross is the place where two worlds touch.

The vertical axis - that is God's call, Logos, the eternal movement from above toward the dark human heart.

The horizontal axis - that is man's life, responsibility, suffering, relationships, all the earthly and fragile.

Love happens there, where these two lines cross - in that silent point where heaven and earth touch within you.

It is there where your "I" is not erased, but cleansed, adjusted and stretched into its true form. There where man becomes the bridge between the visible and the invisible that it was created to be. Not by violence, but by surrender.

John, one of the evangelists, writes in the opening of his gospel -

"The light shone in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it."

Love is this light within you. Not as a feeling that comes and goes, but as an inner sun that slowly, patiently, inevitably puts the darkness to flight.

This means we only love truly when we love in accordance with the order God has written into creation - not the one we invent ourselves.

Love is therefore not self-development but the self's homecoming.

Not liberation from Truth - as the distorted spirit of the age tries to convince you - but liberation in Truth.

Once love has gained foothold in a Human Being, it begins to work from within - and it changes the Human Being's inner light and essence in a way that is visible to everyone around it.

Love's true nature makes fear transparent. It makes the heart soft, without making it weak. It makes the mind alert, without making it hard. It makes the body a temple, instead of a prison. It makes truth into joy, not burden.

We recognise that light Love's True Nature gives in the eyes of people who live from there - it is not a superficial glow, but a quiet certainty in the being, as if their interior has fallen into rhythm with a deeper pulse than the world can provide.

It is easy to be provoked by that kind of people. Easy to feel envy, anger or a quiet irritation at their calm - especially if you have only known your own glimpses of clarity and then quickly lost them again.

But our task is not to tear down this light, as the spirit of the age, seduced by darkness, would like to teach us.

Our task is to let ourselves be reminded that the light exists. To let ourselves be awakened by it, rather than fight it. To understand that when we see a human being who lives in Love's Clarity, we are not seeing an exception, but a possibility.

For if it is possible for one human being, it is - with God's help - possible for us all.

Because in the end, the deepest love is not yours. And it can be difficult to grasp right away, and it is a journey for us all to understand it - that deepest frequency that flows through everything, which we 'simply' open up to. It is God's love, finding a place to rest in you - and a place to flow out from.

It flows freely when you no longer need to hide from Truth, because Truth no longer feels like judgment, but like the light that makes you whole.

Love is therefore - to stand in that light, to let it penetrate, and to become so pierced by truth that your will, your heart and your life harmonise with the Light that created the world.
