MOSES AND THE PATH THROUGH THE SEA -
THE INTERIOR EXIT.
This week's post is for those seeking more keys to understand the ancient stories - and why they have survived for thousands of years.
I have carried this all week, because I myself stand before such a "Sea".
So raw and unpolished, here is one of them - and why this part is so important that humanity has retold it for thousands of years.
Everyone has heard the story of Moses and the path through the Sea. But for many it has become a distant tale. Something you heard as a child. A fairy tale from a remote time.
But what if I tell you it is not only about back then? What if I tell you it is about you - here, now?
Let me sketch it out - then we go deeper in a moment.
We almost all know the story.
A people lives in slavery. A prophet steps forward before Pharaoh and speaks the words that still ring through eternity, and which people across the entire planet have repeated in other circumstances -
"Let my people go."
The demand for FREEDOM.
The recognition that Man is BORN FREE!
But Pharaoh refuses. His heart grows harder. Only when the land is struck by plagues does he let go. The people wander out - but freedom lasts only a moment...
Behind them dust rises from the Army pursuing them. And before them lies an endless ocean - the Sea - blocking their further passage.
They are trapped.
And here happens what no one could foresee - the mystery that only faith in something greater can lift and let us step into.
Moses raises the staff. The wind rises. The water parts... and in the middle of the Deep a path opens.
The people walk dry-shod through Chaos, while the water stands as walls on each side. Held as by an invisible force. When the army wants to follow, the sea closes, and everything that threatened is swallowed. Killed. Ended. On the other side begins a new wandering - through the desert, toward the promised land.
That is how we know the story.
But it is more than history.
It is a mirror.
Allow me to suggest how you can read it as a modern person -
Pharaoh is not merely an ancient king in Egypt. He represents the ego in you - that voice, that power, which will hold fast to control, make us submit, stubbornly and obstinately keep us in a fixed and dead form, even when it makes us slaves to it. He is what refuses change, even when it strangles the life in you.
The ego is a structure within us that, when oriented correctly, serves the wholeness inside - but when seduced into believing it sits on the interior throne - like Pharaoh - petrifies, silts up, makes us rigid and slaves to its relentless and insane megalomaniacal fantasies about the need for control.
Egypt is not just a land, but the narrow places in your own interior. The fear that squeezes you. The guilt that holds you down. The shame that makes you small. The patterns you long to break - but which you remain in anyway...
In Hebrew it is called Mitzráyim - which means "the narrow places." And there many of us live far too often - stuck fast in fear, guilt, shame and old ossified patterns without life.
"My people" is not only the Israelites. It is the divine sparks in you - those forces, longings and dreams that actually belong to God, but which the ego holds captive to preserve power. It is Hope that has been strangled, Courage that has been suppressed, Love that has been hidden away. Everything that is your True Life - who you actually are if you let it flow freely - but which lives as Slave under Pharaoh's (the ego's) yoke.
Moses is what we can call - The Interior Prophet. Yes, you too have such a voice inside. It is that voice in us that comes from something higher - from Logos, from God himself - which rises in the darkness and says -
"Let them go. They do not belong to you. They belong to the Light."
It is the voice that calls you Home. To Truth. To yourself.
Most of us hear this voice every day - but mishear it, because we do not dare believe what it says is true...
How many times have you not felt that voice? When you knew something had to change. When you felt you could not remain in the lie. When you longed for freedom - but still let fear decide.
The staff is the vertical axis - the connection between heaven and earth in man. The authority to separate light from darkness. Yes, you have that ability. And it can be strengthened and refined through connection, self-insight and expansion of your consciousness.
And when we use it, there the Sea opens. For the Sea in the story is the psyche's depths. The chaos, the darkness, everything you cannot control. And suddenly a path is created where there was no path.
For the wind that blows represents the Spirit. That which creates space inside, so a room - a new path - can open. And you are given the choice - Step forward - or remain trapped.
If you go, everything that pursued you - the bonds, the fear, the shame - will drown behind you. You will not see them anymore. And on the other side begins a new wandering. Not toward a land on a map, but toward an interior state - the soul's homecoming to its origin. The promised land.
For it is not a place on a map. But a state in your heart. A soul that has returned home. A person who lives in covenant with their origin, their nature, themselves.
"Let my people go" therefore means -
"Let the divine sparks in man be freed from the narrow places, so they can serve God."
Translated to modern Danish -
"Let all those forces and structures that limit my true being and hold me back against my own best interest fall away - so I can live freely and be what I am created for, and what I have awakened to life for."
That is why Moses' cry still lives and gives resonance in eternity - and therefore echo, echo and has resonance in you.
Every time you feel you cannot remain in slavery any longer.
Every time Truth, Love, Hope and Courage in you demands to be released, so you can feel your God-given Inviolable Freedom.
Then it is the same voice YOU hear.
"Let my people go."
It is not only Moses' words. It is your heart, your soul, your calling. It is God's command to your ego -
RELEASE THE SPARKS!
For on the other side waits the promised land.
And honestly - who are we to dare say no to that?
