On Truth - and why uncovering it matters for you and the West

A bit more on Truth - and why uncovering it is so important. For you. And for the Western world.

It took me over 36 years to understand that I needed - yes, a deep need for - to anchor my experience and understanding of the world to a wisdom tradition.

And 42 years to recognise that the one holding the most clarity, coherence and force - for me - is Christianity.

I looked everywhere else first - even at all those with pearl necklaces and white paint and red dots on the head all the way on the other side of the planet…

"The further away I can get… the greater the chance of finding myself," I thought…. 🤓😆

So much in the culture had taught me to reject it.
Installed defence mechanisms and stories that convinced me I could just "invent my own truth" and "live my best life".

I searched far and wide.
And I had success with - and ability to - see through some patterns myself. But I couldn't draw the complete picture.

Couldn't find a framework that gave both values, ideals and inner direction.

That led to the recognition:
I was missing something larger.
A compass. A language. A structure.

Something that didn't spring from me - but that I could mirror myself in. Something eternal.

Something that could guide me when I myself fumbled like a stiff teenager in my many feelings.

But ONLY when the first contours of the modern woke movement began to take shape - and the whole idea of "my truth" and everything being "fluid" was pushed to its outermost limit - did I begin to see it clearly.

- If you turn reality upside down - and expect meaning, love and lightness to follow - then you're living in a lie.

And with that came the question -
If I'm not Truth itself - what the f… is?

That's where I first heard the word Logos.
And then it began to open.

So after looking at it for 8-9 years I'm sharing my thoughts below - for those of you who might be interested - because I genuinely believe it's one of the absolute cornerstones in Christianity that's often not explained, not taught, or just lightly skipped over.

But not only that.

It's also an explanation of why Western societies have begun to falter, and why we - both as societies and as individuals - need to return to what is true.

Stay with me.

It might seem a bit steep if you haven't thought about it before. But I'll try to cut it as clearly as I can - so it becomes understandable.

....

What does it mean when it says "In the beginning was the Word"?

It says in the Bible -

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (Gospel of John 1:1)

It sounds truly beautiful. But I didn't know, and I don't think most people fully understand, what it actually means. Because what is meant by "the Word"?

The Greek word used here is Logos.
And Logos means much more than just "word".

It means - meaning, thought, plan, order, structure, truth.

You could almost just as well say -

"In the beginning was that which makes the world comprehensible and coherent"

Try to imagine it as a kind of invisible plan.

Think of a building.

Before you build, you draw a plan. You make a system. An order. An architectural drawing. A blueprint. Of what is to be Created.

If you just build without thought - it easily becomes chaos. And the construction collapses.

That's how it is with everything in life.

Everything that FUNCTIONS - the body, nature, love - FOLLOWS a structure.

An inner ORDER. A direction. Truth that cannot be bent.

That is Logos.

It's the way God has thought the world.

It's not something we invent ourselves.
But conversely it's something we can find our way INTO.

And from here it gets a bit more heavy... because the wild thought in Christianity that requires overcoming even to consider is that the Bible says this Logos - this meaning and truth - became human.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."
(John 1:14)

Jesus wasn't just a wise man.
He IS Logos - God's living thought, God's will, God's truth, become human.

So we could see it with our own eyes. Hear it with our own ears. And feel it in the heart.

He is the personification of the Creator, Creation, Meaning, Direction and Truth itself.

So you might ask - yes okay, but like - why is that even important today?

It is, because we live in a time where many believe they can invent THEIR OWN truth.

That they can themselves arrange and order and orchestrate how the world and the entire universe is structured.

For example that what you FEEL is more important than what is TRUE.

That reality can be bent if only we say it loud enough. Or repeat it enough times.

That is. That lies can be made into truth.

You know the time's many absurd examples.

None named, none forgotten.

But reality cannot be bent!

Just as gravity works, regardless of what you believe - so Logos also works.

If you build your life on something that isn't true - then it will sooner or later collapse.

And that's what's happening for increasingly many.

See the numbers for both mental illnesses, the amount of diagnoses and lifestyle diseases that rest on a way of living that's completely out of step with what is healthy and true for the body.

It's also what's happening to the structure of Western societies. We're told half and quarter truths - fabricated reality through screens - meant to make us accept it as Truth.

It sits like a split in the brain of many - because most feel the lie - even though they can't explain it.

Logos is what you feel when…

- something feels genuine.
- you see beauty and are moved.
- you know something is wrong - even though no one has told you.
- you seek direction in life, and feel there must be something more.

It is Logos calling to you.

It's not just something "out there".
It's also something in you.

Because you are created in God's image - conceived in direct line from Creation's Original Bang, the Big Bang, from which the entire universe sprang and was born.

And Logos therefore lives in you as a longing for meaning, for truth, for love, for order

And this is the point when it's said that Jesus is Logos -

He is the deepest meaning of everything.
He is truth.
He is the connection between you and the Creator.

And if you want to find peace, strength and direction in your life - then you shouldn't invent your own meaning with it all.

You should find your way back to the one you were created by.

You should turn towards Logos.
Towards truth.

Because it sets you free.
Brings you home.
Opens a way.
So you can create the life that is yours.

Because Logos is not just God.
It's also the connection to your own creative power.

Your access to the deepest in you - and the highest above you...

That was precisely why European societies - particularly during the Enlightenment - placed Truth highest.

Above comfort. Above power. Above feelings.

Because they understood that ONLY by directing one's gaze toward what is true - not what one wishes, hopes or feels - can humanity build something that lasts.

It was the Christian understanding of Logos - of a world with a divine ORDER that could be discovered, unravelled, understood and drawn value from - that laid the foundation stone for science.

Not as opposition to faith. But as fruit of the faith that the world has a meaning, a structure - and that humanity, created in God's image, can search for it.

Therefore the Christian West became the place where we began to ask the great questions.

What is true?
What works?
What can we measure, understand, prove?

And therefore the way back - is NOT to deny truth, but to turn toward it.

Even when it hurts.
Perhaps especially when it hurts.
And even when it tears up our wrong ideas by the roots.

And the time has many of those...

Because Logos confronts.
But it does so to release.
It judges not to crush, but to restore.

Truth doesn't wish you harm.
It wants to make you whole.
