One of the major media outlets wrote earlier today with large headlines that - "Fear has taken hold of the Danes".

Something to that effect.

I scrolled past quickly, because I know what their signal does, if you let it catch you.

It did however make me think of this, which I wanted to write to you, if you are one of those plagued by fear for the future.

Notice the light at this time of year. How it barely leaves the sky in the evening before it's already there again in the morning, as if the night were only a short breath between two days that really belong together.

We often speak of the Dark, as if it were the strong thing, the thing that spreads, the thing that gains ground while we watch. And it's easy to understand why.

When you look at the surface, at the language being emptied from within, at what is shifted without anyone voting on it, at all the things we say we want, while we do something else. Then it certainly looks like a darkness settling over things.

But Darkness is not a force.
It is an absence.

It has never lit anything, never created anything, never kept a single thing alive, and it can really only do one thing - spread into the space where the light has not yet reached. The moment the Light arrives, there is no fight. Darkness does not negotiate, it yields.

And it has always - through all ages - ever since the Beginning of Creation - had to yield to the Light.

That is where the decisive thing lies. Not as something we wait for, not as a victory to be won one day far out in the future, if we just fight hard enough and long enough. It has already fallen. It happened backward in time, not ahead. And everything we are going through now is not a war with uncertain outcome, but a Light working its way out into a space that still thinks it owns the night.

That is why the future is Light.

I do not mean it as a hope we cling to, because the alternative is too cold to think about - but as a fact that is already settled, as quietly and as inevitably as the morning, which does not ask the night for permission.

So go into the new week without the fear that many want you to believe is entirely reasonable. Not because it looks easy. It does not. But because what seems to be winning has already lost - it just does not know it yet.

An inextinguishable spark was placed in you, when you were created. Not your own, not something you lit yourself, but a glimpse of the light that has already won - and therefore the darkness cannot extinguish it. It only waits to be called forth, and it flames up the moment you turn toward what it came from.

So Light.

The darkness hates you for it.

Good week, friends.
