Some imagine we can solve the problem of Islam in the West with laws, bans and punishments.
But that is, in my view, a misreading of the conflict's nature.
What we stand in is not merely a question of behaviour - but of storytelling - worldviews.
And no law can change a worldview.
You cannot legislate your way to loyalty, assimilation or love of nation.
You cannot punish your way to community.
You cannot regulate your way to cultural cohesion.
That doesn't mean the law is superfluous.
On the contrary. The law is like the moat and walls around the fortress. It can hold the enemy back.
BUT - it cannot create a living city within the walls. It cannot fill a heart with spirit, faith or belonging.
Therefore -
The problem can only be solved - or confronted - if the majority stands on an equally strong or stronger confession of faith.
An equally deep civilisational foundation.
Something sacred. Something you don't negotiate about. Something you burn for.
If the West doesn't believe in anything, it will ALWAYS lose to those who believe in everything.
As long as we try to defend our culture with neutrality, tolerance and secular silence - while the other side shows up with mission, conviction and eternal perspective - we will be run over. Not by violence, but by will.
And it's important to keep in mind that Islam is not just a religion. It is a civilisation.
And it shows up in our backyards - not only with prayer - but with self-evidence.
And it builds and builds onwards with aim for local, national and global dominance. That is the storytelling and the faith - and therefore its nature.
We - the Western world - have only one real chance.
That we also wake.
That we again dare confess our world's foundation - not only rationally, but spiritually.
Not just defend it - but carry it forth in reality and in everyday life. Strike roots deep in the earth and stand up for it.
With fire in the heart. With truth in the voice. With love for our inheritance.
Legislation can slow the symptoms.
But only a new awakening can heal the sickness.
And that is where the real battle stands.
For the modern sleeping Western person confuses a living faith with a dead system.
They hear "awakening" and see sweaty preachers, closed circles, narrow-mindedness and shame. Rules. Removal of freedom. Gilead.
But that is not awakening - that is a dark shadow of an awakening without the fire.
Notice that there are many people in the West who don't reject faith - but who reject the faith they once saw collapse.
Not because they hated God, but because the church they were presented with felt more like a museum than a bonfire.
More rules than grace.
More dogmas than depths.
More dust than life.
More pressing down than lifting up.
So when one says "awakening", they hear scolding. When one mentions "Jesus", they see guilt.
But what they haven't seen - or perhaps have forgotten - is that which in its time raised our entire Western civilisation.
A faith with nerve. With beauty. With sacrifice. With direction. With hope.
It wasn't dry morality that ignited the West.
It wasn't polite Sunday shoes and closed congregations. Discipline, punishment and expulsion for stepping out of line.
It was men and women who believed in something so strongly they went to death without wavering.
It was courage, love and truth, brought into the world by people who knew who they were - because they knew who God is. What God is.
People who clearly felt the presence of something incomprehensible and greater than themselves.
So no - what we speak of when we say awakening is not a return to something old and stiff.
It is simultaneously both a forward-looking and returning movement into something genuine and eternal.
For it's not about going backwards in time.
It's about going deeper into reality.
It's not the church bells alone we miss - if one does - it's the sound of something truer than ourselves.
Something that gathers us.
Forms us.
Calls us upward.
And home in ourselves.
And that is what we must reignite.
Not as a copy of the past - but as a flame that burns for the future.
The flame carried by Truth, Freedom and Love - that burns every totalitarian religion and ideology to ash and dust.

And let me finally add a comment to disarm and elaborate.
There naturally exist Muslims who come to the Western world precisely because they love what we once stood for.
Freedom. Prosperity. Human rights. Equality before the law. The possibility of living a life without control, fear and religious oppression.
They flee from the totalitarian law-religion that oppresses women, punishes apostasy, and monitors conscience.
They long for the society we take for granted - because they have tasted its opposite.
But - the more we make room for the same ideology they fled from, the less we have to offer them.
The more we bow to dogmatism and literal Islamism, the less freedom those get who believed they had come to a sanctuary.
And that is not coincidental.
The Muslim Brotherhood - and their many front organizations in the West as described in last year's publication 'Brotherism' by Florence Bergeaud-Blackler - work from a long-term strategy.
A so-called civilisational jihad, executed not with weapons, but with patience and systematics -
1. They build parallel institutions – schools, mosques, NGOs – loyal to sharia.
2. They infiltrate media, universities and politics, and use concepts like "Islamophobia" to silence criticism.
3. And they undermine the West's identity from within – by exploiting our own tolerance, guilt and historylessness against ourselves.
As they themselves write in a seized document from the Holy Land Foundation trial -
"It is a civilisational jihad with the purpose of destroying the West from within… by means of their own hands and the hands of the believers."
This is a slow, strategic, ideological war that many in the West refuse to acknowledge - partly from fear of being called intolerant, partly because they don't understand the depth and long-term nature of the Islamic worldview - partially because we have lost our own deep faith and therefore understanding.
One must see them in the same way as the faith that made us in Europe spend 200 years building the great cathedrals. Projects that in time reached far beyond the life of the individual - but which one wished to participate in and contribute to for God's glory, even though one didn't see it completed oneself.
We must understand the difference.
Some Muslims seek freedom from Islamism.
But Islamism does not seek freedom.
It seeks conquest and dominion. As witnessed everywhere in the world through the last 1,000+ years.
And that plan we have - in our blue-eyed misunderstood tolerance - opened the doors for, as if it were a hand extended to victims.
In reality it was a ticket to strategic takeover.
If we don't soon wake - not with hate, but with wisdom and courage - it will not be evil that overcomes us.
But our own weakness.
