The Architecture of Conspiracy Thinking

THE ARCHITECTURE OF CONSPIRACY THINKING.

Imagine a drop of ink hitting a wet canvas.

It spreads. It branches. And if you zoom in on one of the branches, you see the same thing again - smaller streams dividing into even smaller ones, without ever reaching a point where it stops. Zoom further in. The same repeats. You can continue down. Deeper. And there is no end. Zoom the other way, and you won't find a ceiling either. It just keeps going. Until you hit the source itself. The stream from which everything flows.

It's an image. A simplification in two dimensions of something that cannot be drawn. Reality itself is infinitely more complex than any canvas - it unfolds simultaneously in all directions and at all scales, including those our senses have no contact with.

But the image points to something true - that reality is one coherent pattern that keeps opening, no matter how deep or how high you look.

And Man stands in the middle of that pattern with one decisive capacity - we are able to read parts of it. You do it all the time, without thinking about it. When you can hear from your partner's footsteps in the hallway what kind of day it's been. When a mother can distinguish her own child's cry from ten other children's on a playground. When an old craftsman places his hand on a piece of wood and knows what it can bear, long before any calculation could tell him. Yes, even at 2:37 in town at a club where you yourself, even through beer goggles, can read - tonight you're lucky.

It's not magic. It's pattern recognition - years of quiet reading of reality, lodged so deep in us that it feels like instinct. And the more precisely we read the true nature of patterns, the better we harmonise with them.

The quality of a human life is in this way directly connected to how truly it sees. And how closely it can live in this truth.

And the patterns lie in everything. In the seasons that return and demand something different from us. In the body's rhythms that reward those who listen to them and wear down those who ignore them. In a marriage where twenty years of reading each other finally becomes something resembling mind reading. In a society where trust, trade and law are patterns that have taken centuries to weave. All that we call wisdom is in reality deep pattern reading - people who have looked so long and so truly that they can feel where the current flows.

But then there's the next layer, and this is where it becomes crucial to understand how the reading actually happens.

Because we don't see reality directly. We see it through what we already believe. Consciousness is not a window - it's a weaver that braids the world together for us from the patterns it expects to find.

You know it from small things. You buy a particular car, and suddenly you see that model everywhere in traffic. There aren't more of them - your lens has just changed, and now your consciousness weaves them forward from the street scene all by itself.

It's harmless with cars. But try moving it one step - a person who has got the thought in that their partner is unfaithful. From that moment everything confirms the suspicion. A smile to a stranger. A message answered a bit too late. A new shirt. There need not exist any infidelity - the lens produces the evidence itself, because everything is now read through it. And notice the uncanny thing. The more the person looks, the more certain he becomes. Not because reality confirms him, but because what we believe becomes the reality we see.

That's how we're constructed. Consciousness weaves the world around us from what it expects to find. It's a strength when the lens is true. It's a prison when it's false - a prison you cannot see, because you see with it.

And now just scale it up.

Because through history there have been people who sat down and wrote down reality's patterns. Large, coherent descriptions of how everything hangs together - history, man, power, meaning. The greatest are our ancient wisdom traditions. Christianity for example, which in my understanding is the most complete and beautiful picture of a Human Being from end to end.

But others have also written less good narratives. The newer ideologies that function as a kind of replacement religions - but even the best of these hobble around on crutches, in order to hang together.

And the descriptions in these hit askew. Not completely beside the mark - that's the crucial thing. Askew. Think of a piece of tracing paper - the kind you used as a child to copy after others - laid over reality's pattern.

They are a poor tracing where the lines never fit, no matter how you lay it. If you get them to align on one side, they stand completely askew on the other. And instead of admitting that the tracing is wrong, you begin pulling at reality to get it to fit under the paper. That's what the askew descriptions do - they lie close enough to resemble Truth - and every time they were followed, they led to results that weren't just bad, but evil.

Because the description lies so close to what we ourselves can decode in reality, it's easy to confuse with reality. You read, and it checks out. The equation can be written so it looks like it adds up.

And then the same thing happens as with the jealous man - the lens sets, and everything begins to confirm it. Every news story, every disappointment, every injustice is now read through the description - and the description is proved right, again and again, because it's the one doing the weaving.

The deeper it sets, the harder it becomes to free oneself from. In the end you can no longer see the difference between the map and the landscape.

That's why I've been warning for years against going too deep into the great total descriptions on your own - Communism, Fascism. Not because you mustn't understand them, but because they are CONSTRUCTED TO take over sight.

The same applies to Islamism. And it applies to any radical religiosity, including the new ones about gender and climate - all systems that demand the full space and place themselves in that space inside where there should be a Human Being.

The mechanism doesn't only exist in the radical extremes. It also exists in a softer, prettier version - in the increasing technocracy, where administrators and social engineers work from a human image that's drawn far too small. A tracing paper where Man is reduced to a unit that can be measured, controlled and optimised - and where everything that doesn't fit under the paper is treated as noise.

Many only discovered during covid how far that lens had already pulled the world - and especially the Western one - along. I've since heard the same from several people, said in a low voice and almost the same words -

"I regret that I jumped in so quickly. That I was so aggressive towards those who hesitated - there was no reason for that. But the narrative I was wrapped in every day was so strong that I believed it was reality. I can see now that it wasn't."

There's nothing shameful in that sentence. On the contrary - that's what it sounds like when a person gets their own sight back. It's not evil in the classical sense that happened between us. But it's the same confusion - a description that has set itself as reality itself - in ordinary people, and in people with power to pull at it.

And then to the last thing, which I needed everything above to be able to write.

I had actually thought we were done with one particular of those descriptions. The one about the Jews. The grotesque conspiracies, written with exactly the same architecture and same construction - the hidden pattern behind all patterns, the explanation that makes everything add up.

Europe had decided to put it in the grave, and with good reason, because we saw with our own eyes where it leads. Murder on an industrial scale. But that's not how it went. The old narratives that sound plausible enough to be confused with reality have been awakened again. Spurred by Islamism's old hatred of the Jew that we've imported over the last five decades, carried forward by the enormous emotions the Palestine cause has whipped up, and amplified by a media landscape that can't get enough of igniting populations' emotions, because anger gives clicks.

The old narratives are now being shared again at full force - by people who have no idea they're reading from a script that has already once cost millions their lives.

They believe they've seen through reality's pattern. That they now suddenly see clearly. "The hand behind the world". The Explanation of Explanations. They no longer need to believe. They're certain that now they KNOW. That's the architecture and construction in the texts. That's why they repeat the same pattern through the last two thousand years.

But the reality is that it's the pattern that has seen through them - found the way in through the same door that all pattern recognition uses, and has now set itself as the lens itself.

They are in prison.

The rest of us must figure out what we do before it runs away with them. As it has done before.

Reality is a pattern.

And anyone who claims to have written it complete has exchanged it with their own.

Postscript.

The post ends here - and you need not read further.

I know you already think I write too long. At the present time there's nothing to be done about it, however. I do it deliberately because I need to get foundation down first.

And I don't write this kind of thing so extensively because I'm sitting looking down from a balcony.

In the early 00s, when the internet really took hold, I myself fell into the conspiracy hole. Not specifically with Jews. But with much else. It was paradoxically in exactly the same period where I for the first time really caught sight of myself - where I began to understand the first tentative pillars of Man's structure, the psychology, the transformation work, the power of narratives. Perhaps it was precisely because of that. When sight first opens a bit, and you begin to see patterns you've never seen before, you're most receptive of all - because then everything feels like a "revelation".

I ploughed through it all. The big and famous, the small and obscure. Those were the years when Icke and Alex Jones grew at rocket speed, and I devoured the books, the sites, the hours - layer after layer of hidden connections, until it filled my entire field of vision. And I can tell you from the inside how it feels -

It doesn't feel like being deceived. It feels like waking up. Every new piece fits. Every rejection from the outside world just proves how deep it goes. The lens reads everything - and everything confirms the lens.

It required ALL my forces - and several years - to dissolve that monster again. To pull myself up from a hole I myself had woven myself down into, thread by thread, evening after evening. That's why I warn as I do. Not because I look down on those sitting in it. But because I know what it costs to come up.

And then what must be said right after this, or else it will be misunderstood.

The world is naturally not as it's presented to us. The journalistic profession, which should be our common sight, has largely disappeared, and we're left in a void we must learn to live in. Until the profession and industry are reinvented. But the task in that void is not to believe every single thing you encounter that sounds plausible and promises a new secret that a hidden group has withheld from you. Because that is not seeing clearly. It's just exchanging one ready-written narrative with another - and you don't choose the new one because it's true, but because it gives the feeling of finally being one of those who know.

The void is uncomfortable.
But it's honest.

And being able to stand in it - to be able to say "I don't know" without grasping for the first map that promises to explain the entire landscape - that's perhaps the most important discipline a person can train in our time.

I wish for you that you find what it takes to just stand in it and accept it. Without hating Man for it.

Good evening, friends ❤☀️
