Since 1953, humanity has landed on the moon, invented the internet, mapped its own genome, built a tunnel under the English Channel, made reusable space rockets and created the new incomprehensible artificial intelligence.
Hizb ut-Tahrir has in the same period - worked on.
One. Simple. Project.
Seventy-three years.
Even Berlin's airport managed to get finished, and it was otherwise Europe's official joke.
But it's not actually the patience that's absurd.
It's the method.
Because when you want to overthrow democracy in Denmark, you start with a form you have to fill out -
"Application for event on public land."
Purpose: abolition of the system processing the application.
Processing time: ten working days.
And then there you stand. The world revolution is approved from 2 to 4 pm. The speakers comply with the noise regulations. The municipality has swept the square clean. So you can stand there shouting "down with the system" into a sound system some municipal lady somewhere in the system has approved.
And afterwards you tidy up nicely, because you'd like to have the permit again next year.
Freedom of speech they want abolished. They announce that via freedom of speech. It's actually a bit like using your lifeline in 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' to call someone who says you should hang up - and then thanking the programme for the opportunity.
And the caliphate? Yes, supposedly it should come soon. In the sense that it's been "soon" since Eisenhower.

Even PostNord would have admitted long ago that the package has unfortunately probably gone missing.
But it hasn't gone missing.
It was never sent.
Because the caliphate isn't delayed.
The waiting is the business model.
And so the rest of us are left with a choice.
We can let them stay in the faith. Let them keep waiting, politely, the way you let a man stand on a platform waiting for a train no one has ordered and everyone knows will never arrive.
You just shouldn't send the Social Liberals down to the platform. They'd take dialogue with the misguided - in the firm conviction that you can meet in the middle. Even though everyone knows there is no middle between Freedom and Caliphate.
Unless of course... you mean half a caliphate.
Like. You know. Caliphate in even weeks. And Democracy in the others. To be run by an institution nicely mixed up of Municipal Ladies and Islamists on half time.
Maybe they do - we'll just have to talk with them about that then. Or give them some pills for it. Something or other.
But look, I'm happy to make the attempt myself and convert them out into Freedom, if no one else dares or wants to. Imagine what an asset they'd be, if the strength they have in their faith was channelled into reality.
Because the train they're waiting for never comes.
But there's another one right beside it. It's been standing there all seventy-three years, with the doors open.
You just have to get on.
