At 4:35 PM, on a completely ordinary slow Saturday afternoon, when most people were unpacking groceries from the weekend shopping or standing out in the garden with a rake, somewhere in the world an adult man sat writing to Krisztina that she deserves to sleep in the ground, and - hold on to something here - that Hitler might have been onto something after all.
He wrote it from a fake address. He didn't dare put his own name on it. He wanted the words to hit her, but he didn't want to stand in the light they cast back, and thus he has already passed his own sentence before any of us got to do it for him.
The infantile narrow-shouldered underdeveloped weakling of a man. A sick and weak version of what masculinity should do to his being.
And what you need to keep in mind here is, this is not a single sick email from a single sick man.
It's endless amounts of comments, messages and emails that come every single time she - or anyone - steps forward and remains standing, and it follows a pattern so predictable you can practically set your watch by it.
The moment anyone stands in front of Jews and refuses to move, the inbox starts filling up.
With messages that follow the exact same template and form - because it's not humans writing here. Even though it's sent by a human. It's ancient ideas and lies that have taken up residence - and have sat down in that place inside - where there should be a Human Being.
Eighty years. Eighty years after Europe dug itself out of the ashes and promised each other and the world and its own dead that now we had learned it, a man sits with a phone in his hand and writes to a living woman that Hitler was right.
He's not writing it in a basement in 1938. He's writing it today, in our time, in our civilisation, in a language we all understand, and the only thing that's changed is that he can do it anonymously and reach her in a second.
This is like lifting a large stone in the garden. There has been darkness underneath it for a long time, undisturbed, in peace, and the second the Light hits, it gets busy down there, everything that can only live in darkness hurries away before anyone manages to see what it actually is. It cannot bear to be seen. It has never been able to bear being seen. That is its entire nature, that it can only exist as long as no one holds the lamp steady.
And so they sit down there in their dark holes and tunnels and hiss up at the Light.
And that's precisely why they write anonymously. Not because they're afraid of us. Because they're afraid of the Light.
That's how it is everywhere now. You don't have to search for it. You just have to stand somewhere where it becomes uncomfortable, and stay standing long enough, and it will come on its own.
So let us remain standing. Let us hold the stone lifted. More light, not less, more screenshots, more people who call things by their names, more who stay when it costs.
You're not meant to go silent when they show themselves. Even though you might be caught off guard or surprised for a brief moment.
You're meant to stand firm.
Lift the stone.
Let the Light shine where it hurts.
And refuse to put it back.
Because we know where it ends if we do.
