What If the Good You Want - Is Not Good?

"What if the good you want - is not good?"

I thought about that question for many years.
And how I could be certain of it?
How one can even know?

Because.

Everyone I know wants to be a good person.
And everyone I know "wants to do good".

But few seem to fully understand what it requires.
Or the difference between the two.

Because they are not the same.
To 'want good' - and 'to be good'.

(Read that sentence again)

The first is about intention.
The second is about transformation.

Most people think it is enough to want good. To have their heart in the right place. To mean well. To support the right causes. They think morality is something you have, if only you FEEL the right things.

But that is both blind - and naive.

History is filled with people who wanted good - who ended up doing (great) harm. Because they never understood what The Good actually is. Or what it requires to build it.

To build good, you must know evil. Not as an idea, but as an experience within yourself. You must look your own shadows in the eye. You must discover where you yourself are driven by fear, lust for power, need for recognition or vengeance - and where you mask this as "care" and "justice".

Become aware of where you confuse - either because you will not acknowledge the truth about yourself. Or because ideological movements have undermined your understanding of words and concepts.

You must, in other words - cleanse your own inner temple, BEFORE you can lift others.

Because you cannot create peace, if you are still waging war within yourself.

You cannot build order, if you refuse to take responsibility for your own chaos.

You cannot be a light, if you constantly hide the darkness within yourself behind good intentions.

To be good - truly good - requires sacrifice. Not of others. But of yourself.

It requires the death of your pride.
The death of illusions about who you think you are.
It requires that you not only point to injustice in the world, but learn to meet it within yourself. Without fleeing.

And that is where the difference lies.

It is easy to mean well.
It is easy to feel compassion.
It is easy to share a hashtag and be for the right thing.

But it changes nothing - if you have not first done the work within yourself.

There is a reason nearly all ancient wisdom traditions say the same thing -

"You cannot lead others further than you yourself have gone."

And herein lies the greatest challenge of modern Western societies - because cultural Marxism, as examined in earlier posts, has inverted the meaning of words to such a degree that we do not reach in and transform the darkness within ourselves. It deceives us into believing that injustice lies outside us - in history, in privileges, in the victim olympics. Something out in the world we must change, so we can show how "good" we are.

Today many believe that feeling good - is the same as being good.

Having good intentions, having the right opinions, supporting the right groups, using the correct words - has been made into moral currency.

But it is deception. An easy, superficial substitute for true virtue, true strength and true goodness.

Instead of demanding character, integrity and sacrifice - there is only required (taaadaaaahh) identity.

Feeling.
Self-staging.

One no longer needs to do good - it is enough to signal that one wanted it.
And in this way we have built up a culture where intention weighs heavier than action, and where feeling stands above truth.

Now I say it as it is -

It is dangerous!

Because it leaves us with generations of people who are convinced of their own moral superiority... but who have never grappled with their own inner demons.

And who therefore have never built anything real, never carried anything heavy, and never paid the price for keeping something upright in the world.

It is a culture of people who want the power to change everything - but who have not built the capacity to bear the responsibility that follows.

They want to "make the world better" - but have never attempted to make themselves into better people.

They want to save systems, the climate, minorities, genders, planets and the future - but have never saved their own soul from bitterness, self-pity and destructive impulses.

Think about that.

That is why so much of what calls itself "good" today - fails. It is not planted in Truth. It is planted in ego, in identity, in an inflated megalomaniacal self-understanding and self-overestimation.

And as long as that is the case, it will all crumble - no matter how well it is meant.

Because reality does not respond to intentions. It responds to structure. To Action. To Sacrifice. To Responsibility. To Courage.

It is those who have done the inner work - those who have dragged their own boards up the mountain, plank by plank, without complaining, without demanding applause - and up there in the silence themselves built something that can stand in the storm - it is they who must raise what comes next.

Everything else is just noise.

That pretends to be care.
But is driven by fear.
Built of ego.
And carried by people who do not want to be good - but just want to look that way.

Teach yourself to see the difference.
