So there's a new press release this time from -

The Agency has followed with concern the recent coverage of a number of creative youth productions from Slagelse, and we find it necessary to contribute the context which the press has once again, unfortunately, chosen to omit.
It is correct that a machete appears in the videos - a tool the Agency has seen gain popularity in the street scene across major European cities over the past two decades, without anyone being able to establish the cause. The Agency considers the phenomenon one of those spontaneous, inexplicable fashion currents that cities from time to time produce, on par with scooters, sourdough and free bleeding.
The Agency would, however, remind you that a machete in its origin is an agricultural implement, and that it is an expression of a narrow, colonialist Eurocentric understanding of weapons to assume that a young man with a garden tool in a shoulder holster is necessarily anything other than an engaged urban gardener on his way to voluntary work.
The Agency reminds you that historically it was the Europeans who brought the machete to other parts of the world as part of plantation operations, and that the discomfort at now encountering it in one's own street scene must therefore above all be understood as an unresolved guilt, which the citizen can profitably work through individually with a therapist - alternatively with anxiety-dampening medication.
That the tool is swung from a moving car, the Agency sees as an encouraging sign that the young people manage to combine green interest with active mobility.
On this basis, the Agency has nominated the machete for inclusion in the local cultural canon as an expression of new Danish craft traditions and recommends that Nørrevangsskolen incorporate the tool into woodwork classes as part of a more inclusive material curriculum. It is the Agency's experience that fear of contact with other cultures' weapons and tools stems solely from lack of exposure.
As regards the sequences that "appear to be shots", the Agency notes with satisfaction that TV2 itself admits that this may be artificial intelligence.
The Agency therefore considers it most likely that all shots in Slagelse are generated by a language model, and encourages citizens henceforth to regard all loud bangs in the night hours as possible hallucinations, until otherwise documented by at least two independent fact-checkers.
The illegal fireworks should in the same spirit rightly be referred to as decentralised, self-organised light festivals. The Agency regrets that neither the municipality nor the housing association has yet applied for EU funds to support the young people's spontaneous pyrotechnic cultural expressions, and will in the coming period work to ensure that the joy can be framed in fixed time slots, so that it is no longer confused with something that must be stopped, but recognised as a new interesting cultural enrichment that must be scheduled.
Races and firings at a primary school must likewise be seen in its proper context.
The school was presumably closed at the time, and the young people have thus shown considerable situational awareness. The Agency rather sees an untapped potential for bridge-building - motor sounds and flashes of light in the schoolyard can for many children be their first encounter with the laws of physics in practice.
The Agency will at the same time highlight the housing association's closure of Nordcenterkiosken as "best practice" within place-based safety architecture. They did not remove the young people who created the insecurity - they removed the place they stood at. The Agency recommends that this method be systematically extended - as more places are removed, there will eventually be no places left where insecurity can arise, and the goal of a safe area will thus be achieved in its purest form.
The Agency finally notes that a resident is considering moving from the area with her daughter.
This is NOT, as certain media suggest, an expression of insecurity, but of residential mobility, and the Agency reminds you that the plan for Ringparken precisely involves fewer public family housing units towards 2030. That residents are already contributing to target fulfilment themselves, the Agency regards as an administrative success ahead of schedule.
For those residents who have not yet achieved the necessary balanced view of their everyday life, the Agency also offers a voluntary narrative recovery programme, where one in sensory rooms to gentle music and under expert guidance learns to re-view one's experiences in a broader perspective.
It is the Agency's basic position that no citizen should stand alone with a perception of reality that has not been quality-assured.
In summary, it is the Agency's assessment that there is no safety problem in Ringparken.
There is a communication problem.
The reality in the area is good. It is the description of it that creates insecurity, and the Agency will therefore in the coming time direct its efforts - with the full weight of the law behind it - towards those in the area or the press who describe it nakedly and factually.
CORRECTION OF PHOTO CAPTION
The Agency has noted that TV2 Øst uses the wording "Masked youths with machetes and firearms create fear among residents" for the attached photograph. The wording does not meet the Agency's guidelines for balanced reality communication and is hereby corrected to -
"Local youths in practical clothing display garden tools and recreational vehicles in green area."
The Agency notes in this connection that the word "fear" is a subjective emotional category that should not appear in factual news reporting, and that the word "create" establishes an undocumented causal relationship between the young people and the residents' inner lives. The residents' feelings are the residents' own responsibility.
