If you want to come along to the beach, when the sun rose over Kattegat at approximately 4:50 this morning, you can come with me here ☀️
I offer it for a reason.
I have slept late most of my adult life. Not many days have I stood on others' schedules but my own, and that was not an accident - I designed my life that way. I always thought that if God had meant for me to see the sunrise, he probably would have placed it later in the day.
That is one of the - completely incomprehensibly - many misjudgements I have committed in my life.
I flipped the day upside down as a teenager, and I did it for a reason I only understood many years later. There was a pattern in personality, self-perception and identity that wanted to see itself in a particular way - it is like that for all of us, just differently - the night as my space, freedom as my own construction - instead of living in the way Man is naturally placed within Creation.
A kind of rebellion.
All that time I gained - especially at night - I spent refining creative skills within all forms of digital production. Including the music, which I have written since I was a child, and kept going the whole way.
That is what made the lie so easy to believe. Because the night actually gave something back. But as with everything else one builds against one's own nature, it required enormous amounts of self-deception to keep the equation running. The circadian rhythm paid the price. Focus paid the price. The body kept the ledger, long before I wanted to see it myself.
It is the same thing I have written about before, just from a different angle. We are placed within patterns we did not ourselves choose - and we can spend half a life negotiating with them, because our image of ourselves will not bend.
But the patterns do not negotiate.
They just wait. And are indifferent to all one's contortions. Because they are Reality itself. The truth that does not bend or yield - no matter how much we try to construct ourselves around it.
The last ten years or so, my old pattern has gradually let go, more or less by itself. Not because I decided it, but because something in me stopped fighting against it. Surrendered. It adjusted itself, harmonised itself, and all sorts of other things in my biological system and life in general followed - for the better. That is how it is with surrender to what reveals itself as true.
One loses a conception of oneself.
One gets a reality back.
My personal story about Love is almost exactly the same - I will tell that another day.
And so I suddenly find myself repeated mornings now in the summer period on a beach by Kattegat and discover what a both mysterious and sacred space it is, when the sun breaks over the horizon after first setting the entire sky on fire.
It has done that every single morning of my entire life.
I just was not there.
The music is one of nine songs I have written over the past twelve months, which smuggle the spiritual life back into pop music lyrics - and precisely this one suited the sun rising.
The coming weeks, all nine songs in six different genres - so the probability is high that you will like one of the albums.
It is done deliberately, because there is a point waiting later about form, which I want to drive very hard home. About how form sometimes places itself between us and something of great value, right in front of us, because our personal narrow preference gets in the way.
I built a life where I never saw the sun rise, and called it freedom.
