After I began writing openly about faith, values and narratives from - and interpretations of - the texts of the Bible, after I stood up myself and clearly declared that I am a Christian, or rather - that I am trying to walk the Christian path (since the bar for being Christian is infinitely, perhaps even unattainably, high), there have been increasingly more "Christians" appearing in the comment sections.
Naturally enough.
The same goes for Krisztina. Our shared journey into personal development, recognition and the longing to live truthfully has had a long pull through many territories and landscapes over the last +20 years - as well as what we can best describe as a series of mystical experiences that have ended in an undeniable recognition.
That we live inside God's mighty breath.
That the universe is based on meaning, order and a frequency of something best described as Grace and Love.
That it wants something good for us.
All of us.
And that the Christian narrative - regardless of whether you are deeply believing or standing on the sideline either lurking or warming the bench - is the best narrative ever created. Because it orients the human being correctly into the great mystery, so it can live and deliver both science and wisdom at one and the same time.
However, I see a pattern that both surprises and astonishes me in comments -
Many hide behind Bible verses, behind "what Jesus said" or behind the authority in a text. And often not to enlighten or inspire - but to "be right". To bonk others on the head. To signal "Look at me, I am more Christian than you and better read than you." Or quite simply to cement a "truth" that is supposed to shut the conversation down and deprive others of the right to seek, search and doubt.
As if Christianity were a quiz where you collect points on citations and the ability to press copy/paste in your memory.
It reminds me a bit of when people have suddenly become vegans - and you can no longer talk with them without getting a whole sermon thrown in... "I'm happy you've discovered lentils and tofu, my friend... but I'd actually rather talk with you than with your vegan bible."
Or as with identity politics and people suddenly can only speak in slogans, headlines and power critique - as if they have reduced themselves and all their thinking to a manual.
It becomes a wall instead of a door.
I naturally understand well where it can come from. Christianity has been ridiculed, marginalized and excluded in the West for the last 50 years, so perhaps many feel a need to lean against Authority in order to stand reasonably firm.
But allow me to share my own observation and experience, which you can take or leave, based on my own journey into the Mystery.
If you sense some of these needs in yourself - then stop and ask - "Why?"
According to my best understanding, you are not created to hide behind others' words.
Not even Jesus.
He never said - "Become parrots who repeat me."... He said - "Follow me."
And that is something completely different.
You have come to the world - are called here - to see how deeply you can go into yourself. How strong, beautiful and wise patterns you can weave from the fabric reality is made of. How much of your small identity you can lay down - and let God step in instead. To demonstrate the light you yourself have seen.
For the force we call God can only use you - your voice, your body - if it is actually you who speaks. If someone else comes out, it is no longer you. That is why it is about finding your own words, about letting God's word shape itself living through you.
It is a difficult sentence.
Read it a few times if you stumble on it.
Something - what we call the Mystery God - lives through you. And expresses itself in harmony with you. Cleanses and amplifies your frequency and your signal. Your clarity.
And when you think about it, you know well that people can tell the difference. That we all can sense it when someone has hold of something genuine. Because that expression, that force, that light cannot be forged with footnotes, Bible citations or old authorities.
You see it in art.
Feel it in song and music.
You know instinctively whether it is Clapton speaking through the guitar - or someone pretending to be him. No matter how technically advanced and schooled the person is.
We can sense whether there is fire behind the words - or whether you have just learned to look up quickly in the manual.
Therefore, if I should give advice.
Let go of the need to control and instruct others. Help them instead to explore, discover and understand. Where they are. Who they are. What they are. What kind of place this is. And from where they draw truth through themselves.
Speak with them - from the most honest place you can find in yourself. Even if it is also sometimes filled with doubt, fear and imperfection - rather than the assumed certainty you so want to signal when you hide behind others' words.
Explain how you understand the words, the verses, the narrative. Share. Instead of pretending that it is God's Word coming out of your mouth.
Because it is not.
You are human - with all its limitations, distortions and confusions. Like all the rest of us.
And you do not become greater by making others smaller.
Let Mette Frederiksen and her godless comrades mess around with that control and regulation hell where you monitor, shame and strike down at people with - "This is how you ought to be, little human." And be certain that even she at some point will discover that that path is a dead end for the human being.
Your task is something completely different.
To live what you have in your heart. To speak it. Dance with it. To demonstrate it. Not constantly call the Bible as witness.
Because each time you hide behind a book, you create distance to what you actually wanted to say. Then you are no longer the sender, but an echo.
Do you want to be a light for truth, freedom and love? Then notice how you yourself react when others hide behind Marx, Muhammad, Buddha or some professor in a TED talk.
You sense immediately that these are not lived words, but mechanical repetition.
And instinctively you think - "It is not you speaking. It is just borrowed words. Look at your life - does it even bear witness that you understand what you are saying?"
So.
Humility.
Diligence.
Become the measure itself instead.
Demonstrate with your life, your being and your frequency that you have hold of something genuine. Even though it takes time, and even though you are still - yes, all the way to the end - on the way.
Let reality bend around you because you dare to be the living result of your work with yourself.
Live it. Weave it. Be it. Speak it.
As yourself.
Where you are.
It is enough.
