But it naturally doesn't stop here. Because there is already a replacement ready in the wings, a man from the same party, same room, same theatre company, ready to deliver essentially the same lines and slogans, rehearsed with the same spin and media training team, with a slightly fresher voice.
He is the seventh lead actor in a decade.
The audience, who voted for a new play, get the old one again with new casting, and the programme is distributed with the word "change" printed on the cover.

And although it in its own right is funny - in that tragicomic way the country has currently developed into - this is where the laughter gets stuck in the throat.
Because it is only funny until you remember that no one in the auditorium chose the repertoire. That the play is being revived, regardless of what the audience applauds, and that none of the changing leads touch what is actually wrong.
We laugh at the casting change, while we look away from the fact that the theatre itself is on fire.
They replace the actor every time.
Never the play.
